The Mouth of the Qi
Your front door, also called the “Mouth of the Chi” in Feng Shui, is the most important door of your home or business. It is the one that lets the Qi in, determines the energy of a space, and allows the opportunities to enter your life.
In most cases, the front door of your home or business should be facing the street, the more yang side, to benefit you and avoid financial issues.
To have great energy, it should face one of your four favorable directions (+90, +80, +70 or +60). First find your Gua Number and then your directions.
Easy to Find
If the location of the front door is not readily apparent to visitors, your home may have “confused chi.” Like your visitors, the chi does not know where to enter your home and may not come in at all. In this type of situation it is preferable to make appropriate changes to bring harmony and let the positive chi flow in.

Location and Proportion
Your front door should be centered and proportionate to the house; the bigger the house, the bigger the front door. It also should be larger than any other door in the house.
Ming Tang or Bright Hall
Your entrance hall, also called Ming Tang in Chinese, is very important too. As a rule of thumb, maintain a 6-foot clearance. Everything within 6 feet of the front door – inside and outside – needs to be clean, free of clutter and of obstruction to help the energy flow.
A staircase going to an upper or lower floor right as you enter the front door is a money depleting feature and to be avoided.
Make sure your front door swings open easily and fully and is not blocked by whatever you have stored behind it. Make sure the door opens smoothly and that there is no resistance, if so call your carpenter to fix it.
Sha Chi
A tree or an electric pole right in front of your front door is considered Sha Chi (negative energy) because it breaks the flow of energy coming into your home.
In a Nutshell
Your front door impacts your health, wealth, relationships, and opportunities in all areas of your life. However, there is much more to consider than just the points mentioned above to determine the Feng Shui of your front door but if you really decide to improve the Feng Shui of a space, the front door is a great place to start!
