“There is nothing like staying home for real comfort.”
Jane Austen
The holiday season and its warm fuzzy feeling are right around the corner. It is all about heart, about sharing, compassion, love and peace. In classical Feng Shui, the heart of the home is the actual center of the house. It is the central Tai Ji also called Heavenly Heart and must be a quiet, peaceful and yin area. It is important to keep it clear of clutter, and avoid having a kitchen, fireplace, stairwell, bathroom or laundry room there because it could affect the poitive energy flow of your home.
To locate the center of your house or apartment, divide its floor plan in a grid of 9 equal squares or in 8 equal pie-shaped wedges.
A kitchen or fireplace has very yang energy and when located in the center of the home, they conflict with the rules of internal forms and cause the Qi to be disruptive. This could translate into frequent illness and heart issues such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease. If you cook a lot it can become a real issue because the more you cook, the more it activates the negative energy flow and may negatively impact your health. If you are in this situation, barbequing and grilling outside may be the answer. However, if you don’t cook, it won’t affect your health.
A stairwell in the center of the home could indicate problems with bones, joints and the skeleton. It can be quite costly and complex to remodel so simply keep an eye on these potential health issues and maximize as much as possible the auspicious energy in the other parts of the house.
A bathroom or a laundry room in the center of the home could indicate kidney, bladder and urinary tract issues. If you have the option, use another bathroom and relocate the laundry room to another part of your home.
Pretty much anything else in the center of the house is fine and won’t affect your health or the energy flow.
Make sure you increase the Sheng Qi (positive energy flow) in your home to influence your well-being by sleeping with your head to your positive directions and facing them when sitting for long periods of time. Find your Gua number and your favorable directions.
